My main hobby for the last 20 years has been metal detecting, both for gold nuggets and coin and relics, the best current gold detector can cost over $6,000, but an older model costing $600 can give you many hours of enjoyment, as it is in my new interest you don't have to spend mega dollars to have some FUN....
This being my first go at the RC hobby, I looked around and the Micro Magic came up trumps, being small to fit in a car boot (or caravan) when rigged, doesn't cost the earth, one design with few restrictions, can be sailed as a fun boat but has the ability to sail competively if i so desire in Australian and throughout the world. At this time I just want to look, listen and learn and have a bit of FUN.....
Over 40 years ago I sailed Moths from Grange and Largs Bay competively, representing SA a few times in Aussie titles and lucky enough to sail in the worlds in Qld in about 1978( I think). We sailed 14 races in 13 days and that cured me of the sailing bug.
My wife Joy and I belong to the Jayco Caravan Club and enjoy the monthly trips to various places within about 100km of Adelaide, on long weekends we travel greater distances.
We are heading northeast for 3 months in July to visit family in Mackay and i find myself googling for stop off points that have caravan parks next to rivers or some water available to sail on, I guess i'm hooked as that is what i still do for our metal detecting.
